Description: The CSIS Japan Chair cordially invites you to "Strengthening the U.S.-Japan Alliance: Perspective from Two Ambassadors." President Biden will visit Japan later this month for a summit meeting with Prime Minister Kishida to reaffirm the strength of the U.S.-Japan alliance and advance a shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific region. The summit takes place against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine and multiple security challenges in Asia that threaten to upend the rules-based international order. Please join the CSIS Japan Chair for a virtual conversation on May 9th at 7:30 a.m. ET, with Rahm Emanuel, U.S. Ambassador to Japan, and Tomita Koji, Ambassador of Japan to the United States, on the upcoming summit meeting and the trajectory for bilateral ties. This conversation will be moderated by Michael J. Green, senior vice president for Asia, Japan Chair, and Henry A. Kissinger Chair at CSIS and director of Asian Studies at Georgetown University. Simultaneous interpretation from English to Japanese will be available. This event is made possible through general support to CSIS. --------------------------------------------- A nonpartisan institution, CSIS is the top national security think tank in the world.
